This NLHF supported project comprised the complete remodelling, conservation and enlargement of 7 galleries and associated spaces covering nearly 20,000 sq ft in the Grade 1 listed Aston Webb frontage building, and the exhibition design of the V&A’s eminent European 1600-1815 collection.
Through ambitious structural remodelling, we reclaimed previously lost space for displays, and reconfigured the historic gallery enfilade, whilst introducing controlled daylight. Innovative low-energy lighting and mechanical and environmental systems are seamlessly and unobtrusively incorporated into the historic fabric.
